Some products become so iconic and widely used, they are the ‘go-to’ products for decades on end. They solve their respective issues so effectively they seem to be the obvious choices in their class. No searching necessary. This has been the case over the years for a multi-use lubricant known to almost everyone.
But in our environmentally-aware times, individuals and business owners from most industries are becoming more demanding. And for good reason. They take an interest in the wider impact of what they habitually use, and how it reflects on them and their business. In the case of the previous multi-use lubricant icon, that means looking closely at its environmental effects and asking if it can be done better.Â
Is it still possible to expect a multi-use lubricant which reliably penetrates deeply enough through rust, loosening rusted components and tools, lubricating everything from hinges, zippers, padlocks, chains and sliding doors, and which protects against corrosion to also be non-toxic and biodegradable? And far gentler to the environment?
The answer is a resounding YES! As environmentally-conscious Australian manufacturers, at Lanotec, we have worked diligently to develop a cleaner, greener multi-use lubricant that does not rely on petrochemical residue—which eventually enters our ecosystem—as its basis.
Instead our General Purpose (GP) Liquid Lanolin consists of a long-lasting lubricating blend that is based on the phenomenal properties of naturally-occurring lanolin – which you may also know as wool grease.
The GP Liquid Lanolin is rapidly gaining popularity among people from many industries, including retailers, commercial machinery owners and operators, fleet managers, mechanics, cleaners, boat owners, anglers and more. Â
This hugely versatile product can also be used around the home to clean and protect metal, timber, leather, plastic, rubber, powder-coated surfaces as well as fibreglass. It penetrates deeply and clings powerfully, leaving a long-lasting coating to protect surfaces and moving parts against corrosion. In this way, it saves you money by extending the life of whatever surface it is applied to. And makes you feel good that it is so much better for the environment than any other similar product on the market.
In 2018, our GP Liquid Lanolin multi-use lubricant was accredited with the prestigious Global Green Tagâ„¢ Certification, one of the world’s most trusted, strict and widely-acknowledged ecolabels. This is a powerful coup for an Australian manufacturer, and the culmination of extensive testing to produce optimal ingredient pairing and ratio. Â
The GP Liquid Lanolin is a proprietary mixture of lanolin and a small exact proportion of carrier which aids application. Once the hydrocarbon carrier has evaporated, all that remains is the natural, non-toxic lanolin, which does not evaporate and is very long-lasting.Â
When lanolin is not exposed to the elements (especially wind and UV rays from the sun) it can hold its form for decades in enclosed spaces such as within workshops. And where it is exposed to harsh element conditions (such as the wet, salty, sunny conditions on the exterior of boats), it still has exceptional ability to withstand extended periods and may only require reapplication about once per year, depending on use.Â
The GP Liquid Lanolin contains such a small proportion of carrier that one litre provides coverage for a remarkably wide area: 15 square metres. Compare this to the chemical-based well-known lubricant which contains a far greater proportion of carrier (remembering the carrier itself only aids application and does not contribute to the protective coating itself). This is where GP Liquid Lanolin gives exceptional value, and why a little product goes a long way.
As well as this, the inherent thickness of lanolin is 10 microns (as compared to 50 microns for the other popular product) producing a greater degree of protection for the surface being treated. And as a natural product, lanolin provides a so-called hermetic seal, which is to say if the treated surface were to be scratched, the lanolin will seal back over the scratched area so it is not left vulnerable to damage in the scratched area.
The GP Liquid Lanolin will not wash off. In fact, it clings so well to surfaces that if you do need to remove it, a solvent must be used. After all, one of its most powerful applications is protecting oil rigs from salt corrosion. And one of its most gentle is lubricating door hinges around the home around pets and children. On metals, it is also non-conductive up to 70 kilovolts.
So, join the increasing throng of companies and individuals throughout Australia and South-East Asia, as well those in the harsh climate of the United Arab Emirates in the Middle East, and in Europe and North America who now use the GP Liquid Lanolin. Our environmentally-friendlier innovation is a proudly Australian triumph and our sole production facility is still located right here in Brisbane, Australia.
If you haven’t tried it already, we appreciate you putting GP Liquid Lanolin to the test to see if you can enjoy its powerful lubricating protection and make a cleaner, greener impact on the environment for yourself and your business.
